new favorite poem.

I absolutely love this poem by current U.S. Poet Laureate W.S. Merwin. The imagery has stuck with me all day. lv, molly

Your absence has gone through me

Like thread through a needle.

Everything I do is stitched with its color.

  1. Hi Molly – I saw your comment over at my ramblings (thanks for visiting!) and came over to see your site.

This poem really caught me off guard and held me. I lost my son 5 years ago and it was as if this poem held the experience in it’s few lines. Wow. Thanks so much for posting.

Great blog as well – love the cute pics of the foods in the recipes!

    • Holli, thank you for sharing. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through. It’s a wonderful thing when a poem can capture our experiences in just a few short lines.
I recently read your post about visiting your son’s grave and was taken aback by your courage and ability to write with such beauty.

  2. hello! might be off-topic, but I just wanted to stop by and tell you I find your blog completely lovely! I am also crazy for cooking, so I enjoy every post you make – either it’s about food or anything else!

    • Thanks so much, Martha! If you have a blog, let me know the link; I’d love to stop by. Happy cooking + poetry reading :)
